Welcome to Alta Lodge.

Alta Lodge is located slopeside in Alta, Utah.  Alta Lodge is Alta’s first ski lodge, hosting skiers at Alta Ski Area since 1939.  We are a traditional, historic ski lodge with ski-in, ski-out access to Alta Ski Area, and only a mile away from Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort. 

The skiing ranges from Alta’s famous steep and deep powder, to groomed intermediate runs, to ideal beginner slopes for learning to ski – all of it covered with an average annual snowfall of 545 inches a year of light, dry Utah powder snow.  With the Alta-Snowbird “Alta-Bird” ski pass, guests can ski the best of Little Cottonwood Canyon’s powder right out our door.  Snowcat skiing is offered by Alta Ski Area, and Wasatch Powderbird Guides offers helicopter skiing, for the ultimate untracked powder skiing.  Skiers can experience some of the best backcountry ski touring in the world, both powder and spring corn snow, right out our door. 

We offer fine food and a classic on-mountain lodging experience.  Our lodge rooms range from romantic corner rooms with fireplace and balcony, to large rooms for the whole family, to dorm rooms for your ski trip with friends.  Most rooms have spectacular mountain views.  A full American skier’s breakfast and a four-course dinner are included in our room rates.  Fine dining is a highlight of Alta Lodge.  Full wine and beverage service is offered with dinner.  We also serve lunch in our dining room – it’s a gracious and relaxing alternative to the usual on-mountain lunch fare.  Our classic ski bar, the Sitzmark Club, is a warm spot to meet friends for a beer or a cocktail après-ski. 

Alta Lodge is the perfect destination for a family ski vacation.  Our Kids’ Program includes after-skiing kids’ activities, crafts and games, a special kids’ dinner, children’s activities after dinner, and a free shuttle to Alta Children’s Ski School each morning and afternoon.  During early season and spring season, kids stay free in their parents’ room. 

Our ski camps, clinics and ski adventures are more popular every year.  Our original Powder Tracks ski week is the best way to learn to ski powder in Alta’s steep and deep snow, with the latest fat powder skis and ski instruction from Alta Ski Area’s Alf Engen Ski School.  Our Women’s Ski Camps combine the camaraderie and fun of a women’s-only ski group and ski instruction especially for women.  Other ski programs offer special attractions such as yoga, backcountry ski touring, and coaching for high performance and steep skiing. 

The Deep Powder House ski shop, just a few steps from our door, is one of several nearby ski shops offering the latest powder skis, fat skis, shaped skis and all-mountain skis. 

In the summer, when the Wasatch Mountains bloom with wildflowers, we offer a traditional mountain lodge experience.  We host romantic mountain weddings, with full dinner and beverage service, as well as lodging right here in Alta.  Alta Lodge is the perfect summer location for a business retreat or conference, in the cool mountain air of Little Cottonwood Canyon, but less than an hour from Salt Lake City International Airport.  And our Sunday Brunch is a favorite with Salt Lake locals and visitors alike, with outdoor dining, live jazz music, and a selection of buffet and breakfast cuisine.
