About the Lodge

Fine food, personal service, and a perfect ski-in/ski-out location bring over seventy percent of guests back each winter to Alta’s first ski lodge. Offering the classic ski vacation – reminiscent of the days when ski accommodations offered more than just a place to stay – the Alta Lodge atmosphere is authentic, personal, and informal. Our guests and staff share a passion for skiing and the magic of Alta.

In the summer season from June to October, Alta Lodge is a charming mountain destination for weddings, meetings and special events, offering the same authentic and welcoming atmosphere, personal service, outstanding dining and onsite lodging. We are also open to the public for Sunday Brunch with outdoor seating.

The staff are all friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy. The overall facility is cozy, warm and welcoming – not marble and chrome. Beds are comfy and though the rooms tend to be small the amenities are topnotch. The food is wonderful, with lots of delicious options. Most of all there is a vibe at Alta Lodge that is one of people who love Alta, love the unpretentiousness and love being in a beautiful spot in the mountains. -Susan, 2023

Why Stay in Alta?

Guests who are new to Alta sometimes ask “Isn’t it cheaper to stay in Sandy or Salt Lake City, and drive up to Alta or Snowbird every day? That way, we could ski lots of different resorts during our vacation – right?” Well… it may be a little cheaper to stay in Salt Lake Valley, but the experience doesn’t compare.

The staff is great. The food is great. The Sitzmark Club is great. The hot tub is great. Afternoon cookies are great. The ski rental place next to the Lodge is great. And, of course, the skiing is the best in the world. A Swiss friend joined our party this year. He said, “This place is impressive.” High praise from a Swiss guy who has spent his entire life skiing in the Alps. -Charlie, 2023
