Fine food, personal service and a perfect ski-in, ski-out location bring over 70 percent of guests back each winter to Alta Lodge, recognized by Ski Magazine as “Alta’s most august and celebrated accommodations."
Alta Lodge is Alta's first ski lodge, hosting skiers since 1940. We are a traditional, historic ski hotel with ski-in, ski-out access at the base of Alta Ski Resort, and only one mile from Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort.
Alta Lodge offers fine dining and a classic on-mountain lodging experience. Our Lodging-Dining Package includes hot breakfast and four-course dinner with our lodging rates. Fine dining is a highlight of Alta Lodge. Full wine and beverage service is offered with dinner. We also serve lunch in our dining room -- a gracious and relaxing alternative to the usual on-mountain lunch fare. Our classic ski bar, the Sitzmark Club, is a warm spot to meet friends for a beer or a cocktail apres-ski.
Our selection of guest rooms include romantic corner rooms with fireplace and balcony, large rooms for the whole family, and shared dorm rooms for the solo ski traveler. Most rooms have spectacular Alta slopeside or mountain views. Start your day with a complimentary yoga class, offered at 7 am daily during the winter season.
Alta Lodge is the perfect destination for a family ski vacation. Our complimentary Kids' Club includes a free shuttle to Alta Children's Ski School each morning and afternoon, after-skiing kids' activities, crafts and games, and a special kids' dinner. During early season and spring season, kids stay free in their parents' room.
Skiing at Alta ranges from Alta's famous steep and deep powder and off-trail runs, to groomed intermediate runs, to ideal beginner slopes for those just learning to ski, with an average annual snowfall of 545 inches of light, dry Utah powder snow. With the Alta-Snowbird "Alta-Bird" pass, guests ski the best of Little Cottonwood Canyon powder right out our door.
In partnership with top coaches and instructors from Alta's Alf Engen Ski School, our Ski Adventures, camps and clinics are a popular all-inclusive ski trip. Our original Powder Tracks ski week is the best way to learn to ski
powder in Alta's steep and deep snow, with the latest fat and rockered powder skis and ski instruction from Alta Ski School. Our Women's Ski Camps offer the camaraderie and fun of a women's-only ski group. And Performance Ski Camp takes big mountain skiing to a whole new level for advanced to expert skiers.
Snowcat skiing is offered by Alta Ski Area, and Wasatch Powderbird Guides offers helicopter skiing, for the ultimate in untracked powder skiing. Skiers can also experience some of the best backcountry skiing and ski touring in the world, with powder and spring corn snow conditions, right out our door.
The Deep Powder House ski shop, just a few steps from our door, is one of several nearby full-service ski shops offering the latest powder skis, fat skis, shaped skis and all-mountain skis, as well as ski boots, clothing and other ski gear.
In the summer, when Alta is in bloom with wildflowers, we offer a traditional mountain lodge experience.
We host romantic outdoor mountain weddings, with full dining and beverage service, as well as lodging on site in Alta. Alta Lodge is the perfect summer location for a business meeting, retreat or conference, in the cool, fresh mountain air of the Wasatch Mountains and less than an hour from Salt Lake City International Airport. Sunday Brunch is a favorite with Salt Lake locals and visitors alike, with outdoor dining, live acoustic jazz, and a selection of house-made pastries, breakfast dishes to order, and lunch cuisine. We also serve a great Saturday lunch on the sundeck during our summer season.
