WEDDING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How many hours does the facility rental fee include?
The rental period is five hours, typically 6 pm – 11 pm or 5 pm – 10 pm. Daytime slots are also available for weekday events (Monday – Friday). Saturday day events are available in four hour periods (10 am – 2 pm and 11 am – 3 pm). Additional hours are $350. The bar and music service stops at the close of your event. For after event socializing, we offer use of the Sitzmark room for guests. Alta Town ordinance requires that all music and loud noise end at 11 pm.
2. Is a deposit required?
To reserve the date, a deposit and signed contract are required. The amount of the deposit is the facility rental fee. For a Saturday evening event, the deposit/facility rental is $2,950.00. Please refer to our “Wedding Packet” for other facility rental fees.
3. What is the cancellation policy?
The deposit is non-refundable unless we are able to book an event of equal value on the same date. A $500.00 cancellation fee will be deducted from the deposit.
4. Are linens, tables, chairs, china, glassware, silverware and serving accessories included?
Everything associated with your dining and beverage service is included with the facility rental fee. We offer white on white tablecloths and napkins. Set up and break down of ceremony and reception are included in the facility rental.
5. When is the final count due?
The final head count is due two weeks prior to the event. To accommodate any last minute guests, we prepare enough food for five percent more than your final count. You are charged for the final count or the actual head count on the day of the event, whichever is greatest.
6. When is the final payment due?
Two weeks prior to your event, we present an estimate based on the details of the event and the final count. Full payment of the estimate is due ten days prior to the event. If alcohol is served, final settlement is done the day after the event.
7. What is the summer accessibility of the Lodge for people with disabilities?
The Lodge is a historic building and is accessed by a stairway with 59 steps from the roadside to the Lobby entrance. In summer, after winter snow has melted, the Lodge is also accessible via four-wheel-drive road with Alta Lodge van service and wheelchair ramp. There is one wheelchair accessible lodging room on the main level. Some areas of the Lodge are not accessible by wheelchair from the Lobby, and the Lodge does not have elevators.
Alta Lodge is actively committed to making reasonable accommodations to people of all abilities to ensure the greatest and most convenient access possible to the Lodge. Please ask at the Front Desk for a manager if you need any assistance during your stay, or if you have questions about accessibility. A courtesy phone is located at the top of the entry stairway with a direct line to the Front Desk. For more information, please see Accessiblity and Accommodations.
8. What are your lodging rates?
When making a reservation, your guests should refer to the name of the wedding party. Standard rooms are $105/night Sunday – Friday. The Saturday night rate is $150/night for a standard room and includes Sunday brunch for two. Please refer to our “Wedding Packet” for other lodging room options and rates.
9. When is the deposit due to reserve a lodging room?
To confirm lodging, a deposit in the amount of one-night stay with tax is required at the time of booking.
10. Is a bridal suite included with the wedding package?
A corner room with king bed, private balcony, and wood burning fireplace is provided for the wedding couple the night of the event, compliments of Alta Lodge.
We also offer two complimentary changing rooms to use the day of your event. These rooms are not intended for overnight lodging, rather dedicated dressing rooms for the wedding couple and their wedding parties. Lodging rates apply if changing rooms are used for overnight lodging.
11. Can we use an outside caterer or supply our own food?
With the exception of wedding cakes, we do not allow meals to be catered by an outside supplier. If you are interested in something we do not offer, please inquire.
12. Do you provide food tastings? Is there a fee?
We do not have formal ‘tastings’. During the winter months, we welcome you to be our guests for dinner. We offer a four-course meal with a choice of three entrees. In the summer, we invite you to join us for Sunday brunch. Our Sunday brunch buffet offers a wide variety of food to enjoy from appetizers and salads to desserts. Arrangements for dinner or brunch can be arranged with our compliments.
13. Can you accommodate special dietary needs?
At no extra charge and with advance notice, we can make accommodations for special dietary needs such as vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free diets.
We can also provide pre-arranged kid-friendly meals for kids ages 12 and under. The entrée charge is half price for kids ages 12 and under.
14. Can limits be put on the amount of alcohol served? Even with a full bar?
To work within budgets and/or control alcohol consumption, we can set limits on the amount of alcoholic bottles opened/drinks poured. All arrangements for bar/beverage service can be made with our Wedding Coordinator and set up prior to your event.
15. Is there a place where kids can play?
We have a Kids’ Room with activities, games, and a television with a DVD player and Wii console that is available for our guests. Adult supervision, provided by the guest, is required.
16. Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed at the Lodge. Dogs are not allowed in Alta or anywhere in Little Cottonwood Canyon, because the area is a protected watershed. (There are a limited number of dogs licensed to residents under Alta ordinance.) People bringing unlicensed animals into Alta are subject to citation and large fines, and the Alta Marshal enforces this strictly. Please visit the town’s website for more information: www.townofalta.com/faq_dogs.php.
If you want your beloved dog to be part of your wedding ceremony, it is generally possible with advance notice to obtain a temporary Town of Alta license. In this special situation, we can accommodate your dog, during the day (not overnight), on leash, and outside the Lodge buildings only. Please inquire.
Alta Lodge makes every reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities, and we do accommodate service dogs that guide or perform a task for a person with a disability. Please notify us in advance if you require a service or guide dog during your stay.
