Alta Ski Area
Alta has a worldwide reputation as the mecca for powder skiing. While Alta's fame was established by its deep powder snow, rugged terrain and spectacular scenery, beginner skiers will gain confidence and
experience on novice terrain served by 3 chairlifts. The profile of the area's runs is 25% beginner, 40% intermediate and 35% advanced. The ski season runs from about mid-November through late April. Alta has seven chair lifts - triples, doubles and quads - with a vertical drop of 2,100 feet and 2,200 skiable acres. Snowboarding is not permitted at the Alta Ski Area but is offered at Snowbird. Alta and Snowbird offer a combined lift ticket - skiers can purchase one ticket for both mountains! For those who don't want to ski back and forth, Snowbird is located just one mile from the Alta Lodge and public transportation is available from the door of Alta Lodge to Snowbird.
